TPACK

What are the major themes or ideas in your content discipline?

My content discipline is social studies with an emphasis on history.

Does your content discipline rely on specific processes for developing the key themes or ideas?
I am not totally sure about this question, but I believe social studies is fairly broad and does

not rely on specific processes in order to develop key ideas/themes. I hope, after taking

this class, that I will have a better understanding of this.

How much of what you know is dependent on the way you learned your subjects?
In terms of my content discipline, I have never been a teacher or have utilized my teaching

skills in any manner regarding social studies, so I would have to say that what I do know

is dependent on the way I learned my subjects due to the fact that I lack the hands-on
experience from t he field.

Do you think in terms of your content by the chapters in a textbook or do you think in terms of your content as an integrated whole?

I look at history as periods of time, therefore I tend to view the content by chapters in a

textbook rather than an integrated whole because I believe history has numerous starting

and ending periods.

Does your knowledge of this discipline represent an integration of the concepts and processes that connect them?
